Stunning Cliffside Proposal Leads to Joyful Wedding for Cork Couple

A breathtaking cliffside proposal at The Guillamene in Tramore set the scene for the nuptials of Aisling Healy and Jonathan Delaney, a couple whose love blossomed amid the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. Living in Glanmire, this Cork couple embarked on their journey together in 2020 when they first connected on Facebook.

“After texting for a few weeks, we finally met up, and it just took off from there!” Aisling reminisced about the early days of their relationship, which laid the foundation for their lasting bond.

A Proposal to Remember

Jonathan’s unexpected proposal came during an outing to Tramore, a moment Aisling described as both surprising and memorable. “I wasn’t expecting it at all! I even had a tantrum on the way because he made me walk a cliff in the blistering heat, but I said ‘yes,’ so that was the main thing!” Their engagement marked a new chapter in their lives together, along with Aisling’s two sons, Josh, aged 11, and Franky, aged six.

A Joyous Wedding Day

On August 3, Aisling and Jonathan exchanged vows at St Joseph’s Church in Glanmire, officiated by Fr Cian O’Sullivan. A celebration followed at the Oriel House Hotel in Ballincollig, a venue the couple fell in love with immediately. “We viewed so many venues, but from the moment we stepped into The Oriel, we knew it was what we wanted. They were so accommodating; nothing was a problem!” Aisling shared.

The couple’s wedding party was a lively affair, featuring six groomsmen and six bridesmaids, along with three flower girls and three page boys, all of whom added special moments to the day.

Perfect Weather and Special Touches

Fate smiled upon the couple with beautiful weather, as dark clouds loomed before and after their wedding day. “It rained all day Friday and again on Sunday, but Saturday the sun came out!” Aisling noted, highlighting the good fortune they experienced.

Jonathan donned a custom-made suit from Lucas in Saville, Cork, while Aisling turned to a family friend to create a stunning dress inspired by Sophia Tolli. Flowers were skillfully arranged by Tracey from Florist4u, showcasing the couple’s vision for their wedding day.

Their wedding wouldn’t have been complete without the expert touch of photographer James O’Driscoll and videographer Jerry at Claddagh Video. “They were amazing to deal with,” stated the couple, acknowledging the crucial role these professionals played in capturing their special day.

Music, Dance, and Festivities

As the evening unfolded, the band The Pearls took to the stage, ensuring the dance floor was full throughout the celebrations. Aisling remarked, “They were outstanding!” The couple climbed onto the dance floor for their first dance to “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley, a moment made even more special as it was performed by Aisling’s father, Michael. “He garnered more attention than the first dance when people realized it was him singing!” Aisling laughed.

The wedding cake, a delicious creation from Kate at Kool Cakes, added a sweet touch to the evening’s festivities, while many family and close friends contributed to the wedding, reinforcing the love that surrounds Aisling and Jonathan.

A Memorable Experience

Reflecting on the planning process, Aisling shared, “It was so easy and relaxed until the final weeks with table seating and such, but I’m sure every couple has their moments!” Their journey to this cherished day was filled with both challenges and joy, ultimately culminating in a celebration that reflected their unique love story and the support of their families and friends.
