Cork Couple Celebrates Love with Stunning Cliffside Proposal and Dream Wedding

In a picturesque setting at The Guillamene in Tramore, Aisling Healy and Jonathan Delaney recently embarked on their journey of matrimony, making their love story even more enchanting. This beautiful couple, residing in Glanmire, tied the knot on August 3 at St Joseph’s Church in Glanmire, marking a new chapter in their lives that began amidst the pandemic in 2020.

A Love Story Sparked During Covid

Aisling Healy, originally from Farranree, and Jonathan Delaney crossed paths during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic through a serendipitous connection on Facebook. “We had been texting for a few weeks before we met up,” Aisling recalled. “It just took off after that really!” Little did they know that this virtual connection would blossom into a beautiful relationship and culminate in a heartfelt proposal.

A Surprising Proposal with a View

Jonathan chose the breathtaking cliffs of Tramore for his proposal, a decision that Aisling found both surprising and exhilarating. “I wasn’t expecting it at all – I even had a tantrum on the way because he made me walk a cliff in the blistering heat," she laughed. Despite her initial frustration, Aisling ended up saying "yes," marking the beginning of their wedding planning adventure.

A Magical Wedding Day

The couple’s wedding ceremony took place in the quaint St Joseph’s Church, officiated by Fr. Cian O’Sullivan. Following the ceremony, they celebrated at the Oriel House Hotel in Ballincollig, a venue Aisling and Jonathan fell in love with at first sight. “From the minute we stepped into The Oriel, we knew it was what we wanted. They absolutely fell all over us; nothing was a problem," Aisling stated about their experience with the venue’s attentive staff.

Weather luck was on their side, as day two of their wedding celebrations enjoyed sunshine, despite rain on the preceding Friday and the following Sunday.

Bridal Party and Attire

The bridal party was a vibrant blend of family and close friends, comprising six groomsmen and six bridesmaids, alongside three flower girls and three page boys. Jonathan sported a custom-made suit from Lucas in Saville, Cork. Aisling, after trying on various dresses, ultimately opted for a stunning gown inspired by Sophia Tolli, designed by a family friend.

The couple’s floral arrangements were crafted by Tracey at Florist4u, who they praised for her exceptional service.

Capturing the Moments

Photographer James O’Driscoll and videographer Jerry from Claddagh Video were entrusted with documenting the couple’s special day. Aisling noted, “They were outstanding, the dance floor was full all night!” The couple’s first dance was a heartwarming rendition of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley, performed live by Aisling’s father, Michael. “He got more attention than the first dance when people realised it was him singing!” Aisling said, highlighting the joyful atmosphere of the evening.

For their cake, they turned to Kate at Kool Cakes, ensuring every taste bud was catered for as that iconic moment of cutting the cake approached.

Reflecting on the Planning Process

As they look back on their wedding journey, Aisling reflects positively on the planning experience: “Planning was actually so easy and relaxed until the final weeks of table seating, etc., but I’m sure every couple will have this!”

Their wedding truly encapsulated the couple’s love and the support of their closest friends and family, creating memories they will cherish forever.

As Aisling and Jonathan embark on this new adventure together, their story serves as a reminder of how love can flourish even in uncertain times. If you’ve experienced a unique wedding proposal or have tips for planning a special day, feel free to share your stories in the comments below!
