Corinthians beat Fast Clube-AM, today, 3-1, in the second round of the São Paulo Junior Football Cup. Alvinegro was trailing at the Arena Fonte Luminosa, in Araraquara (SP), but had the help of defender Cordeiro to secure the three points. Claudinho opened the scoring for the Amazonians, but Higor and Felipe Augusto (twice) turned on Timãozinho.
With the result, coach Danilo’s team maintains the primacy of 100% and moves on to the second phase of the competition. With six points, the team from alvinegro is the isolated leader of Group 12.
Fast Clube, on the other hand, suffers their second defeat of the tournament and the bottom of the key. The Amazonas club is the only one not to score in the group stage. Ferroviária and Zumbi-AL, both with three points, are in second and third position respectively.
For the last round of the group stage, therefore, the Corinthians faces the landlady Ferroviária, at 21:45 (Brasilia time) on Monday, at the Arena Fonte Luminosa. Previously, from 19:30, the Fast Clube will face Zumbi, in the same stadium.
The game
Despite facing a technically stronger side, Fast Clube didn’t let themselves be intimidated and went on the attack. Thus opens the scoring after 10 minutes, with Claudinho. After the exchange of passes, fullback José “Piriquito” received it on the right and crossed. The number 17 then jumped over the Corinthian defense and headed towards the back of the goal.
With the setback, Corinthians adopted a totally attacking posture and cared for the actions of the game. Thus, in the 23rd minute, he put himself in danger with a free kick from Matheus Araújo, who stopped the post and then goalkeeper Neneca.
Later, he had chances to equalize again through Arthur Sousa, aged 28, and again through Matheus Araújo, 31 minutes away. Both of Timãozinho’s athletes missed their mark.
Corinthians packs up in the 2nd half
After half-time, the game remained with the same structure: Corinthians in attack and Fast Clube in defence. 4′ into the second half, Arthur Sousa enters the area, turns and strikes with style, but stops on Neneca, who makes a good save.
In the 12th minute Murillo takes a strong and low free-kick, but Neneca still defends. On the rebound, the Fast Clube goalkeeper launched himself on the ball and shared it with a Corinthians striker, once again preventing the equalizer. Six minutes later, Murillo receives a throw-in in the area, but misses a great chance.
When the confrontation entered its final stretch, Corinthians managed to equalize and, soon after, to comeback. At 33, Higor receives Breno Bidon on the left and, on the first move, leaves everything the same. In the next minute, defender Cordeiro tries to clear after Neneca’s save, but hits his own post and the ball falls on Felipe Augusto, who doesn’t waste time and turns to Timãozinho.
Finally, the São Paulo club gave the final numbers to the match in the 42nd minute of the second half. Playing down the left, Matheus Araújo played for Felipe Augusto inside the area. The striker struck hard and had the help of Neneca, who accepted the kick, to score the third for Corinthians, his second.
