Corinthians is interested in signing attacking midfielder Benjamín Rollheiser, who plays for Estudiantes, in Argentina. Despite this, ensuring such reinforcement seems to be a far from easy mission for the Corinthians board, chaired by Augusto Melo.
As said by Rubens Gomes, future football director at Corinthians, there is still no negotiation between Timão and Estudiantes for the midfielder. However, there has already been a prior consultation to understand Rollheiser’s situation.
“No (there was negotiation). I called Benfica, because they told me they were negotiating, as they had just negotiated Veríssimo and had good contact with Rui (could be Costa, president of Benfica, or Pedro Braz, another manager), I asked if they were in negotiating with him, and they said yes”, the leader told Rádio Guaíba, before continuing.
“I just made a query to Benfica and had the information that they were negotiating. Difficult information because Botafogo is also negotiating the player, they are with SAF, you’ve already seen it, right? So I’m not even going to get into that. He laughed and that was it. Player who was being monitored, but we did not make any contact with him”, he commented in an interview with Rádio Guaíba, this Monday (1).
The tendency is for Corinthians’ movements in the football market to gain strength from this Tuesday (2). On this date, Augusto Melo officially assumes the presidency of Timão and gains full autonomy to conduct negotiations.
