Midfielder Matías Rojas takes the Corinthians for delayed image rights and is considering going to FIFA to unilaterally break the contract with the club.
Earlier this month, Rojas notified the Corinthians about the debts and was informed that the outstanding amount would be paid in two installments, with the first to be paid by last week, which did not happen.
“There is a complaint in the day-to-day delivery club”, informs Rizek about Matías Rojas
The number 10’s salaries are up to date, but image rights account for a large part of Rojas’ monthly salary. Failure to pay for more than two months opens the door to a contract termination request at FIFA.
To date, the Corinthians paid around half of the image rights amounts agreed with Rojas. The debt is approximately R$5 million.
If he sues FIFA and wins the legal dispute, the midfielder will be entitled to receive the full value of the contract (the sum of salaries, image rights and other charges), which would represent a huge problem for Timão.
When announcing Rojas, the Corinthians informed that his contract lasts until June 2026. However, his registration with the São Paulo Football Federation is valid until July 2027.

O Corinthians undergoes a transition under his command. Elected president just over a month ago, Augusto Melo will only take office on January 2, 2024.
According to current president Duilio Monteiro Alves, the club agreed to buy Rojas for 1.8 million dollars (around R$8.6 million at the price at the time). He was free after the end of his contract with Racing, from Argentina, and was being sought after by other teams in Brazil and abroad.
Currently 28 years old, Rojas played 20 games for Timão this season, with two assists and no goals.
