The game

First time

Even playing away from home, it was Corinthians who started the match pressing. In Timão’s first attacks in the attack, the team ended up missing the last pass, which made it possible for Santo André to counterattack.

The first arrival with danger from the alvinegro club came with just over two minutes played. Daniel Japonês, on the side of the court, went through the marking and risked a strong finish. The shot, however, ended up being saved by the opposing goalkeeper.

Corinthians kept pressing the home team in search of the first goal. However, who opened the scoring was Santo André. Tatinho ended up being disarmed by Fernandinho, who faced Lucas Oliveira. In the first finalization, the ball ended up hitting the post, but the same player took the rebound and removed the zero from the marker.

With the goal conceded, Timão went on the attack to tie the match. With the difficulty of reaching the attack with the exchange of passes, the alvinegra team started to bet on long shots, especially with Canabarro, who has a strong kick as his main characteristic.

With Corinthians’ chances, goalkeeper Caio, from Santo André, became one of the main characters of the confrontation. The archer accumulated defenses in submissions by Deives, Tatinho, Gugu Flores, which happened in a moment of black and white pressure.

After many chances created and many mistakes in finals, coach Deividy Hadson stopped the game to talk to his players. In the sequence, Timão started to work the ball with more patience, looking for spaces in the opposing defense.

However, the alvinegra team continued to make mistakes in the last decisions and, consequently, Santo André managed to arrive with danger in some counterattacks. With that, Lucas Oliveira also started to work hard, making defenses that avoided the second goal.

In a foul against Corinthians, with four minutes left for the end of the first stage, Canabarro found Deives free at the back of the court. Timão’s number 10 risked a kick, which stopped on the crossbar.

The final minutes were the same as the rest of the first leg. The team led by Deividy Hadson accumulated several created chances, but without success in finishing. In this way, the first 20 minutes ended with the partial score of 1 to 0 for Santo André.

Second time

The second half started the same way as the first 20 minutes. With almost two minutes played, Deives passed to Daniel Japonês, who hit the crossbar after a deflection in his finalization.

In a quick kick from the side, caused by the ball hitting the crossbar, Daniel Japonês found Baby free in the area. The player just pushed into the nets to equalize the score.

However, the joy of the Corinthians tie was short-lived. In the next move, Santo André, also through the dead ball, managed to score the second goal. Xaropinho received a free kick and risked a strong low finish, which ended up going under Lucas Oliveira.

After the quick goals, the match became frantic. Both teams created several chances within seconds of each other. With almost four minutes played, Santo André reached their third goal. In a corner kick, Xaropinho, again, received a free kick and finished off goalkeeper Lucas Oliveira.

Then, taking advantage of Corinthians’ relegation in the match, Catolé performed a beautiful individual move and scored the fourth goal for Santo André.

After the “blackout”, coach Deividy Hadson stopped the game to talk to his players. After the stoppage, with 13 minutes left for the final whistle, the alvinegro commander promoted the entry of Deives as goalkeeper.

With this posture, Corinthians began to move the ball more patiently, seeking to take advantage of the numerical advantage on the court. However, with some passing errors, Timão provided chances for Santo André, who tried to risk finishing from their own court, since the black and white goal was empty.

Even with their superiority on the court, Corinthians could not turn the various chances created into a ball in the net. Deives, Daniel Japonês, Tatinho and Canabarro, were the main sources of danger on the alvinegro side. The kicks, however, ended up going wide of the goal or were defended by goalkeeper Caio.

The confrontation continued in the same way until the final minutes. In this way, the match ended with the score of 4 to 1 for Santo André. With that, Timão experienced its third defeat in the competition.
