Cordobeses in the “Discamino” to Santiago | Radio Córdoba | Present

Cordovan businessman Javier Luque has returned to the route that will take him on foot to Santiago de Compostela with his son, Antonio, who suffers from cerebral palsy.

This well-known businessman from the cultural sector of Córdoba, owner of Librería Luque, has made this pilgrimage his particular way of vindicating the rights of people who suffer some type of disability, physical or mental. And you are not alone. What began as a personal adventure, in 2004, has become over the years the movement “Discamino” in which more and more families are participating who fight, like him, “to improve accessibility for people with special needs.” In 2012 and 2015 Javier and his son completed the Camino de Santiago with a adapted bike. This year they do it with an “all-terrain” wheelchair, which allows them to overcome the continuous difficulties that arise on the route.

In Hoy por Hoy Córdoba we have had the opportunity to greet Javier Luque a few kilometers from completing the second stage of the Portuguese route, between Redondela and Pontevedra. They hope to arrive in Santiago next Sunday. A moment that Javier already knows will be very emotional because “in the Discamino the emotions are running high.”
