Córdoba will grant the universal accessibility seal to establishments in the Historic Center

It is a quality seal, that of good practices Cordoba Includes, a corporate image related to universal accessibility, devised by the Delegation of Inclusion and Accessibility of the Córdoba City Council and presented by its manager, Bernardo Jordano. This seal will certify the good practices of up to 45 establishments in the capital, including five hotels, located on the route that goes from Plaza de las Tendillas to Paseo de la Ribera.

But, how will these places achieve this seal? Then eliminating accessibility problems that they present, but not only of an architectural nature, but also aspects such as that their staff can serve customers in Sign Language or that a person with a visual disability can read the menu of a restaurant. “All this will add up to obtain this seal of good practices”, has detailed Jordano.

The project was born from the Route of the Museums, which was presented at Fitur, and in which 45 establishments have been detected. To launch this program, three phases. The first one is of an informative nature, which will take place during the month of August. The second includes the carrying out of visits “to those who request it” and the third will be the delivery of the report, with which the degree of compliance with accessibility per location is cataloged. Once this fulfillment is known, a selection of candidates will be made for the Córdoba Includes Seal.

Among the proposed spaces are commercial establishments and official buildings such as museums or churches, which are located in the Plaza de Las Tendillas, in the Duque de Hornachuelos street, the Company square, the Marqués del Villar street, the Jerónimo Páez square, Cabezas street, Compás de San Francisco, and San Fernando and Lucano streets, Potro square, as well as Enrique Romero de Torres street and Paseo de la Ribera.

The awarding of the seal will work “like the hotel star system and the one that approaches the outstanding one will have all the possible stamps of Córdoba Includes and the one that goes out of the average will have some stamps, but with less intensity”, Jordano pointed out. who has insisted that with the project “we seek to encourage establishments open to the public to get out of the ordinary and to improve”.

As an example, the mayor of the PP has exposed the case of the Antonio Gala Foundation: “we are aware that in buildings of this type the architectural barriers are very difficult to solve, but if they take an important step and adapt their material to people with disabilities visual, it would be magnificent because it would give access to this cultural offer to a group that did not have it before “.
