The medical manager of the Sucre Clinic confirmed Thursday that there are nine positive cases of Covid-19 detected at the institution, after it became known on Wednesday that a doctor had tested positive for coronavirus.
“We confirmed the first case yesterday, a doctor who works in the general ward, from there a series of tests have been carried out, and new cases are being confirmed. All in close contact with the doctor, doctors who work with her in the guards, “said Marcelo Dellatorre, medical manager of the Sucre Clinic this morning.
“The first case detected is that of the doctor, we are not sure that it is the first, but she was the first to show symptoms, she decided to swab and tested positive,” Dellatorre explained, clarifying that the doctor had just made two guards in a row .
“The campus is divided into two groups, but just the doctor stood guard with the two groups. Yesterday we swabbed about 30 doctors, “he added, saying that swabs will also be performed on all patients. “There is more concern about contact with colleagues in the guards than patient care,” she said.
The Clinic, together with the Emergency Operations Center (COE) and the Ministry of Health decided to close the operating room and suspend new hospitalizations.
“We have to wait for results, according to that we will see with the COE and the Ministry of Health, he added.
Three positive cases of coronavirus had been reported this morning among staff working at the Sucre Clinic. According to Islmael Ferreyra, head of nursing at the clinic, the infected are three doctors and results of swabs are still awaited.
“One of the floor doctors tested positive and about 30 tests were carried out on the staff. Two other doctors tested positive there,” he told Cadena 3.
Ferreyra indicated that this Thursday they were waiting for the results of other tests and announced that during the day the COE operation would continue in the clinic located on Calle Santa Rosa at 770.
