Córdoba Football League Set to Kick Off with Exciting New Format for 2024 Season

After the holiday break, football in the neighborhoods of Córdoba is about to return to its best: its matches every Saturday.

The Cordoba Football League has a start date for its competitions and it will be next Saturday, March 9.

This week a meeting of the board of directors and delegates of each club was held where different details of the competition were finalized, both in First A and First B.

In both cases it was established that there will be an Apertura Tournament and another Clausura throughout 2024. In the case of the highest division, three tickets to the 2024/25 Regional Amateur Tournament will be distributed as the most important prizes.

As published by the “InfoLiga” site, the competition formats will be the following:

First A

Apertura Tournament: they will be divided into two zones, in which they will play round-trip, all against all (18 games). The best from each zone will qualify for the 2024/25 Regional Tournament.

Clausura Tournament: they will be divided into two zones (those who finish in even and odd positions in the Apertura will be separated), in which they will play round trip, all against all (18 games). The best from each area will face a single match to define the Annual Champion. In addition, the winner will qualify for the 2025/26 Regional Tournament.

First B

Apertura Tournament: they will be divided into two zones, in which they will play round-trip, all against all (18 games). The zone winners qualify for the semifinals.

Clausura Tournament: they will be divided into two zones (taking into account the Apertura score, the odd and even numbers will be placed in different groups), in which they will play round trip, all against all (18 games). The zone winners play semi-finals, but if one of these is repeated, they automatically enter the final stage. The finalists will face each other in a single match. The winner will be the Primera B champion and will advance in category. The loser will contest the revalidation.
