CÓRDOBA, Jul 16 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Córdoba airport has just received certification as a ‘safe airport’ from the Airport Health Accreditation program managed by the Airports Council International (ACI), a program that assesses compliance with the health measures recommended by ACI, the Aviation Organization Civil International (ICAO), the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines.
As Aena has indicated in a note, all of them are aligned, in turn, with the objectives of the Operational Recovery Plan that Aena launched in April 2020 and that has been implemented in all the airports in the network.
The achievement of the Airport Health Accreditation (AHA) shows Aena’s continuous commitment to the measures adopted for the safety of employees and passengers as a result of the pandemic, with the aim of regaining the confidence of travelers in air transport.
Along with Córdoba, the airports of Albacete, Badajoz, Burgos, Huesca-Pirineos, Melilla, León, Logroño, Madrid-Cuatro Vientos, Pamplona, Sabadell, Salamanca, San Sebastián, Son Bonet, Valladolid and Vitoria have also obtained accreditation. which, added to the 30 who had already obtained it, represent the total of 46 in the network in Spain.
In this way, Aena becomes the airport group in the world with the most ‘safe airports’ accredited according to the guidelines of the international aeronautical authorities and the guidelines of the World Health Organization.
As published by the ECDC in its ‘Guidelines for covid-19 testing and quarantine of air travelers’, air transport has been shown to be an environment with a low prevalence of the virus, accounting for less than one percent of the detected cases of covid-19 and without an increase in the transmission ratio.
The protocols and measures are applied at all airports in the Aena network. Among these measures, ACI has certified the reinforcement of cleaning and disinfection in the facilities, the control of the maximum allowed capacity and the adaptation of the different operating processes to the new reality.
Likewise, ACI has valued the installation of protective screens; of informative signage through digital screens, posters and loudspeakers with messages on the use of a mask, personal distance or hand hygiene, among others.
Córdoba airport also has hydroalcoholic gel dispensers and has deployed other ‘contactless’ elements such as taps and soap dishes in the toilets.
“COLLABORATION AND EFFORT”
From the Córdoba Airport, its director, Sonia Martín, has highlighted “the collaboration and effort” of the entire Cordoba airport community to implement and ensure the measures in order to recover the activity safely.
On all these measures, Aena has worked and continues to work constantly in all its airports to recover traffic safely. Its Operational Recovery Plan includes more than 100 measures, including those directed directly to passengers, operational and organizational.
AHA is the first global program conceived specifically for the airport sector since the Covid-19 crisis. The accreditation has been granted after a careful evaluation of the health measures and procedures that Aena and the Spanish authorities have introduced in all passenger areas and processes.
Passengers can consult the updated information on the measures implemented at the airports on the Aena website, the recommendations for their trip (before heading to the airport, once at the facility, on the plane and at the destination airport) and the restrictions in force in the different territories.
