Cops find half a million euros in the hidden space of the car; men from Doetinchem arrested | Doetinchem

DOETINCHEM – The police have found almost 650,000 euros in cash in two cars. Half a million euros was hidden in a hidden space in one of the vehicles. One 24-year-old man and two 21-year-old men have been arrested on suspicion of money laundering.




On Tuesday, officers saw a car driving on the A50 near Heelsum that exceeded the maximum speed by more than 30 kilometers per hour. They forced the car to stop and issued a ticket to the driver.

When checking the car, however, the police officers of the rural unit suspected that there was a hidden space in the vehicle. They found the space containing shoppers with 500,000 euros in cash. The driver, the 24-year-old Doetinchemmer, was arrested. The car and the money have been confiscated.

Norwegian crowns

The officers then wanted to search the suspect’s home in Colijnlaan in Doetinchem. There they just saw a man with several bags come out and drive away in a car.

They also forced this driver to stop. In the trunk were the bags containing 625,000 Norwegian kroner and 95,000 Swiss francs. That is converted to approximately 145,000 euros. In other bags, the agents mainly found expensive goods.

The two occupants of the car, the men of 21 years old, have been arrested. The car, money and other goods have been confiscated.

Hemp farm

In the shed of the house on Colijnstraat, the agents found a complete hemp farm. The nursery was not in use. Everything has been confiscated and is being cleared.

The 21-year-old men each accepted a fine of 7,500 euros on Friday. The 24-year-old suspect pays a fine of 50,000 euros. The suspects have relinquished the confiscated amounts of cash, cars and other goods.
