An act of vandalism has hit the Convent of Sant’Andrea a Lower Nocera. The perpetrators stole the copper cables that connected the convent’s private power supply, causing economic damage estimated at around 3 thousand eurosThe theft was discovered late Friday afternoon, shortly after 7pm, leaving the friars and the local community without lighting in the gardens and without the functioning of the electric gate.
The interruption
The episode caused thecomplete interruption of the power supply of the convent, making it necessary to completely rebuild the lighting system for both the lower and upper gardens. The electrical panels, in fact, will have to be redone from scratch, since the theft caused an internal short circuit that blew out the circuit breakers, also compromising the internal system of the convent. Despite the critical situation, the technicians managed to restore at least the internal electrical functionality, but serious problems with the external system remain.
