Series champion Juventus Turin has reached the quarter-finals in the Italian Football Cup. The top team from Serie A prevailed in the round of 16 of the Coppa Italia on Wednesday after extra time with 3-2 against the league rivals Genoa. Cristiano Ronaldo was brought on by coach Andrea Pirlo in the 88th minute.
With a lightning goal, Dejan Kulusevski (2nd) gave the Turin hosts the lead, Alvaro Morata increased to 2-0 (23rd). The next goal for Genoa succeeded Lennart Czyborra (28th), Filippo Melegoni scored to equalize (74th). Hamza Rafia scored the winning goal for Turin (104th) – after preparation by Ronaldo and Morata.
In addition to Juve, Inter Milan and defending champions Napoli also shot their way into the quarter-finals. Inter won 2-1 after extra time against Fiorentina, Napoli prevailed 3-2 against Empoli. AC Milan are also in the quarter-finals of the Coppa.
