“Copa del Rey: Real Madrid Wins the Trophy, but Trails Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao in Trophies Won”

Real Madrid did win King’s Cup 2022/2023. However, the score of the El Real trophy in that event was far less than that Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao.

Madrid face health in the top match at the Estadio La Cartuja, Sunday (7/5/2023) in the morning WIB. Madrid immediately won 1-0 in the second minute through Rodrygo’s kick.

Osasuna was only able to equalize the score in the 55th minute through Lucas Torro’s volley which Thibaut Courtois couldn’t keep out. Rodrygo scored again in the 70th minute which sealed his team’s 2-1 victory.

Madrid also has the right to celebrate the long-awaited Copa del Rey title. The reason is that Madrid last won it in the 2013/2014 season, aka almost a decade ago, which at that time was also coached by Carlo Ancelotti.

Madrid’s record in the competition which is usually called the Spanish King’s Cup is indeed not good. Of the 40 times he appeared as a finalist, Madrid has only won 20 times.

Madrid’s trophy score even lost to Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao, two teams that incidentally came from areas in conflict with the Spanish government.

Barcelona is the team with the most trophies, namely 31 out of 42 appearances as finalists. The last time they won was in 2020/2021 by beating Bilbao.

Bilbao is in second place with 23 trophies from 39 opportunities to advance to the final. His last trophy was the 1983/1984 season or almost three decades ago.

The fourth team with the most trophies since the early competition was held in 1903 are Atletico Madrid (10 times) and Valencia (8 times).
