“Another step forward”, welcomes Neymar on Instagram as Brazil has just qualified for the semi-finals of the Copa America. By beating Chile (1-0), the Seleção continues its almost flawless course in the competition and still aims to clinch its tenth victory in this tournament.
Author of two goals since the start of the competition, Neymar has once again been decisive. Stirring in the first half, the Parisian took advantage of the entry of Lucas Paqueta to sign a new decisive pass, after a combination at the entrance to the area, concluded from the right by the Lyon striker.
Reunion with Peru in the semi-finals
Despite the expulsion of Gabriel Jesus in the 48th minute, after a foul on defender Eugenio Mena, the Brazilians did not falter and held up well to the Chilean offensives, notably led by Arturo Vidal and Ben Brereton. The latter even hit a header on the crossbar in the second half (69th). Eduardo Vargas found the loophole after the hour mark but his goal was ultimately disallowed for an offside position.
Very solid during the group stages, with three wins and a draw (1-1 against Ecuador) in four games and ten goals scored, Brazil will find Peru who defeated Paraguay after a meeting at least lively (3-3, 4-3 after tab).
The meeting will be followed this Tuesday, July 6. Kick-off scheduled for 1 am French time.
