Copa America: narrow Argentina win, draw for Uruguay – football

Chile also continues

Before that, Uruguay and Chile split 1: 1 in Cuiabá. Eduardo Vargas put the Chileans in the lead in the 25th minute after a nice combination over Ben Brereton with a shot on goal from the acute angle. Luis Suárez equalizes in the 66th minute after a corner kick.

The rest of the game is dominated by coach Óscar Tabárez’s team, but they cannot find a means against the Chilean defense. With the draw, Chile secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Copa America. Uruguay scores its first point in the tournament and has to give it all again against Bolivia on Thursday.

The Copa America started just over a week ago. The South American continental tournament was moved to Brazil at short notice after Argentina dropped out as the host because of the second corona wave. The South American football association Conmebol then came under fire because Brazil is still a corona hot spot. As the second country in the world after the USA, Brazil has had more than half a million corona victims since last weekend.
