In a statement, the federation said that it “recognizes the violation of the sanitary environment of the team participating in the America’s Cup, with the unauthorized entry of a barber who, despite a negative screening test , should not have been in contact with the players ”.
The body did not give the number or the name of the players involved, but assured that they would receive a fine.
“We regret what brought us to this situation and we inform that all the members of the team received a negative test for the virus, Saturday”, affirmed the federation.
Chile’s head coach Martin Lasarte is due to speak to the media at a press conference later on Sunday.
Chile and Argentina share the top of Group A with four points in two games. The Chileans can secure a place in the tournament’s playoff phase by beating Uruguay on Monday.
