Coosje will participate in the fourth season of . in 2014 The voice of Holland. It is a period she looks back on with difficulty, because her mother died just before and her father, Ernst Daniël Smid, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. She said she was too vulnerable at that time for an adventure on national television.
“I have long denied that I was actually not doing well at all. I have not had time to mourn for a long time. Grieving is also letting go. I find it very difficult, because I loved my mother so much, to let her go.” She spoke to no one about the grief and loss. When someone asked how it went, the standard answer was: ‘It’s okay, nothing to worry about’.

“I thought for far too long that it was going well, until it caught up to me one day.” A few years ago, Coosje entered a crisis. “In 2017 I was suicidal and that really shocked me. The fire that burned in me as an artist, singer and actress was extinguished. The moment my mother died, a part of me died. Nothing interested me anymore ( …) until I didn’t feel anything at all in 2017.”
