The solution to the historical problems of solitary confinement of Loma de Mari Ángela (Santiago Pontones), due to the flooding of its ford with the floods of the Guadalquivir could arrive very soon. Since last Tuesday, February 16 Technicians from the Provincial Council and heads of services from the Sustainable Development delegation are studying the possibility of streamlining the administrative procedure for the construction of the bridge that would solve the isolations that this urban nucleus suffers in the Natural Park of Cazorla, Segura and las Villas, in times of abundant rains.
After holding a telematic meeting between the Municipal Infrastructure Deputy, José Castro, the Mayor of Santiago Pontones, Pascual Gonzáles, and the Sustainable Development Delegate, María José Lara, it was concluded that in order to expedite the procedures it was necessary to coordinate the technicians of the three administrations Santiago Pontones City Council, Diputación and Junta de Andalucía through its delegation in Jaén, to carry out as soon as possible the project of the bridge for Loma de Mari Ángela, whose first stone was laid five years ago.
After recalling that the previous delegate of the area, Soledad Aranda, held a meeting with the mayor, Pascual González, in which she facilitated a blueprint on the bridge that could be undertaken in Loma de María Ángela, “and we are waiting for you to send us the documentation and request the environmental reports.” Ensuring that from there they will be as diligent as possible “to expedite and carry out this project so demanded by the neighbors as soon as possible.”
Already in 2019 Diputación presented the project that involved an investment of one million euros to build said bridge that was not tendered since it did not have the corresponding environmental permits.
Currently the The only access to the urban area of Loma de Mari Ángela is a floodable ford of about 27 meters a width of six meters that usually leaves this population isolated when the Guadalquivir rises with the rains.
The objective of this project is improve river drainage by building a viaduct to bridge the crossing and facilitate road traffic communication in times of high flow. The projected route begins at the current access to the urban center of Loma de Mari Ángela from the A-319 with a total length of 228 ‘6 meters. The viaduct would be 45 meters long with abutments 5 meters high.
