Coordinating Minister Mahfud Md appreciates 18-year sentence against Indosurya boss Henry Surya

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md appreciates the 18-year prison sentence against the boss of the Indosurya Savings and Loans Cooperative (KSP), Henry Surya who had previously been acquitted. According to him, the sentence that was just handed down was part of his performance Attorney General’s Office spectacular.

“I just communicated with the Attorney General’s Office. I thank you and express my appreciation. The news of the success of the Attorney General’s Office is not only the BTS case with the determination of the suspect against Jhony Plate. But there is also something spectacular, namely the verdicts for Henry Surya and June Indria in the Indosurya case,” Mahfud said. when contacted, Wednesday (17/5/2023).

Mahfud said the government did not accept the verdict from the West Jakarta District Court (PN) which acquitted Henry and June Indria, so they filed an appeal. According to him the crime committed by Henry and June is obvious.

“At the District Court (PN) Henry Surya and June Indria were acquitted. We, the government, cannot accept it and we are cassating it. Such an obvious crime was declared onslag. In fact, we are determined to play hard with Henry Surya to continue bringing him to court with cases “Other matters have different locus and tempus delicti,” he said.

Mahfud conveyed that a number of legal experts who were invited to discuss the case stated that the West Jakarta District Court’s verdict against the two was wrong. Until finally at the Supreme Court level Henry Surya was sentenced to 18 years in prison while June was 14 years in prison.

“The state must not give in to crime, the state must not lose to criminals. We also invited legal experts from various campuses to examine the PN’s verdict. All experts stated that the PN’s verdict was wrong or wrong. It turned out that our thoughts were the same as the opinion of the Panel of Cassation Judges in MA. Henry Surya was sentenced to 18 years in prison with a fine of Rp. 18 billion, while June Indria was sentenced to 14 years in prison with a fine of Rp. 12 billion,” he added.

The Supreme Court (MA) handed down a verdict against the boss of the Indosurya Savings and Credit Cooperative (KSP), Henry Surya. The Supreme Court sentenced Henry to 18 years in prison. Previously, the Indosurya KSP boss was acquitted.
