The Ferizy mobile application has been praised by the Indonesian Minister of Transportation for reducing the number of delays during ferry crossings. The app, which was launched in 2018, has helped to streamline the ticketing and boarding processes, improving the overall ferry experience for commuters. In this article, we will delve into how Ferizy has made a positive impact on ferry travel, ensuring a smoother and more seamless journey for passengers.
The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, has praised the state ferry operator PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry for the implementation of e-ticket sales through the Ferizy app. According to him, the majority of travelers who are crossing on the ferry have used e-ticketing, resulting in smoother transactions and an increase in compliance with travel provisions. The app has proved particularly useful for travelers at Merak Port in Java to Bakauheni Port on Sumatra Island.
Effendy visited Merak Port in Banten to review the transportation system during the Eid al-Fitr exodus. He noted that the separation of vehicles, with passengers with motorcycles crossing at Ciwandan Port in Cilegon, Banten, has also contributed to the smooth ferry crossings. This year, Merak Port is accommodating only passengers riding on cars and buses for ferry crossings.
Effendy also urged the public to not come to the port without carrying a ticket. The President Director of PT ASDP, Ira Puspadewi, emphasized that there would be no more on-site or go-show ticket sales at ports. She urged prospective passengers to prepare for the day of departure and avoid being late by checking in two hours earlier. Ticket sales through the app have reached 100 percent.
Puspadewi praised passengers who leave early and show up with tickets at the ports. She asked for their cooperation in following the date and time stated on their tickets. Travelers who arrive at the port without a ticket are being asked to leave. For their own convenience, travelers are advised not to buy tickets from scalpers.
Apart from the Ferizy app, travelers can also buy ferry tickets at retail stores such as minimarkets. Ticket payments can be made via bank transfer, e-wallet, retail stores, internet banking, and other modes. ASDP’s digital transformation in ticket sales has resulted in fewer delays and smoother routes for the transportation system. Such improvements are critical during peak periods of travel, such as during the holiday season.
Effendy and Puspadewi’s remarks underscore the importance of implementing technological advancements and digital transformation in the transportation sector, to ensure a smoother transportation experience for the public. The app and digital payment methods have proven to be beneficial to passengers during this year’s Eid al-Fitr exodus. The effective use of e-ticketing has eliminated the need for passengers to wait in long queues for tickets or carry cash. It has also reduced the pressure on ticket sales agents and staff, improving their productivity and efficiency.
The success of this year’s Eid al-Fitr exodus transportation system proves that digital transformation and e-ticketing are viable solutions to the challenges faced by the transportation sector. It paves the way for the adoption of new technologies and practices to improve transportation services, which can ultimately benefit the wider public. With the growing trend towards automation and digitization, the transportation system can look forward to enhancing its services and experiences for the public.
