Introductory speech by Simeon Milanov – host of the discussion:
Hello, dear viewers, once again I have the great pleasure to welcome you to a discussion that we have the honor to organize from that series that we have talked about several times about international relations and their development in the 21st century and especially about their perspective , and especially for the connections between Europe and Asia, between Bulgaria and Asia. Not just Asia, but East Asia, which, as is well known, has increasingly become the focus of world attention in at least the last two or three decades.
And if we follow the theory of the rearrangements of geopolitical, economic influence, cycles, etc., then East Asia becomes the next center of international influence of major geo-economic, economic and geopolitical processes, as such a center of major economic, technological and political processes was once , for example, Western Europe. In the period from the 15th to the 18th-19th centuries, even up to the 20th, if we must be more precise.
We titled our discussion, “Cooperation with mutual benefits instead of escalation: from Europe to Asia-Pacific”.
Why?
Because we see two parallel trends right now in the world and in the Eurasian supercontinent:
– The one tendency of cooperation, of interconnectedness. If you will, as Chinese leader Xi Jinping once said: A Global Community of Humanity’s Shared Destiny.
– However, the other trend is the opposite. It is of disunity, of conflicts and confrontations, creating points of tension in the Eurasian supercontinent. With the very purposeful and obvious goal – to end and interrupt cooperation and Eurasian integration. Eurasian integration, when I say, I do not mean simply, for example, the Eurasian Economic Union, which revolves around the Russian Federation, but rather I mean Eurasian integration, as they say, from Ireland all the way to the People’s Republic of China. Economic, commercial, technological integration of all European and Asian countries, while, of course, respecting their sovereignty and national interests. An interesting perspective that is being opened to the world, but which, unfortunately, is threatened by someone’s interests.
I believe that today’s discussion will be interesting for you and many questions related to integration and if you will the convergence between Europe and Asia and the obstacles to this integration and this cooperation will be answered.
Thank you.
Enjoy the discussion and we look forward to your comments.
