The Prime Minister, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde, received in audience, this Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the Prime Minister’s office, a delegation from the company Varum Beverages, led by the Minister of Industry, Julien Paluku. This international firm, recognized throughout the world and representative of the large firm PEPSI in Africa and Asia, has, during this hearing, announced to the Head of Government the launch, in the next few days, of its activities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This, thanks to the facilities that the Government has already granted them.
The Minister of Industry, who led this delegation to the Prime Minister, told the press that the establishment of this firm in the Democratic Republic of the Congo will have a significant social impact, particularly with regard to employment. It holds the license to produce, sell and distribute all Pepsi brand products.
« Today, we were honored to be received by His Excellency the Prime Minister who, as you know, sent us a week ago to Harare, capital of Zimbabwe, to go and report on the great capacity of the firm that represents the large firm PEPSI here in Africa and Asia. Because the objective of the Head of Government is to multiply many industries to create enough jobs. And so, we went there to reassure ourselves that the company exists and we can confirm to all opinion that the work that we have done in Zimbabwe has shown us that this company, which we call Varum Beverages, is the representative of the large firm PEPSI because it is the latter which holds the license for the production, sale and distribution of all PEPSI brand products. And so they are now interested in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This is why they were received by the Prime Minister to talk to him face to face, how they are going to settle in our country, what impact their company will have in terms of jobs, in terms of wealth. And so, the Prime Minister gave them special attention, in order to open the door greatly to come and settle in this part of Africa which is almost the epicenter of the African continent.“, Said in substance Julien Paluku.
For his part, the head of the delegation of the company Varum Beverages expressed his satisfaction for the opportunity that the DRC has just offered to their firm.
« As a company, we are very honored to come to Congo. It is a great country. A truly active country. We have our operations in Zambia and Zimbabwe. The next operation, we will come to the Congo. We were given a lot of facilities to start our operations. Very soon we will be bringing our products from Zimbabwe and starting our brand here. At the same time, we are going to put our industry here. I say thank you to His Excellency the Minister of Industry, who was really excited to come to Zimbabwe, to see the inauguration of our expansion by the President of Zimbabwe. We will establish our industry here in Congo in a way that serves the Congolese people“, Underlined K Shankar, head of the firm Varum beverages, the only valid representative of the large firm PEPSI.
