Cooling system GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition showed high efficiency under load

One of the resources, which received a reference version of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition video card for review, “accidentally” published the results of a study of the operating temperatures of the novelty with a thermal imager. The video was quickly deleted, but vigilant users managed to take screenshots, as well as record and publish a copy of the research results.

The published video NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition shows the heating of the video card during an 8-minute load (video is accelerated 8 times). As you can see, the central area of the GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition heatsink warms up under load up to 65 degrees Celsius. And in idle mode, the temperature of the cooling system is 34.4 degrees Celsius.

As the portal points out VideoCardz, the cursor of the thermal imager is aimed at the not very hot area of the heatsink. From the heat trail, you can see that the temperature of the printed circuit board itself in the upper part of the card (where the auxiliary power connector is located) is higher than the sensor value. However, the sensor itself is directed in the wrong direction (it reads the temperature values of only the area to which it is directed), so it is not yet possible to say about the exact indicators.

It is not known under what conditions the tests were carried out, but the temperature in idle mode can be described as very low. It is worth considering that the RTX 3080 Founders Edition uses 0dB technology – the fans of its cooling system do not start until the GPU reaches a certain temperature.

As a reminder, the official reviews of the RTX 3080 Founders Edition graphics card are due out on September 16th. They were originally supposed to be released today, however, NVIDIA decided to postpone them to a later date, probably due to its ads on the purchase of the British microprocessor developer Arm.
