Cool! NASA Launches Space Launch System Rocket That’s Tall Than the Statue of Liberty

NASA launches Mega Moon rocket.

Bobo.id – The United States Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) launched a Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and spaceship Orion in preparation for Moon Mission I.

On Thursday (17/3/2022), the rocket made an 11-hour journey from the High Bay 3 Vehicle Assembly Building to Slide 39B at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, United States.

This huge rocket is dubbed as Mega Moonwhich stands 95 meters tall, taller than the Statue of Liberty, and weighs up to 2.6 million kilograms.

Bill Nelson of NASA explained that the rocket launch was aimed at expanding the human presence on the Moon.

To get to its destination, which is Launchpad 39B at the Kennedy Space Center, the Artemis I rocket with the Orion plane took 10 hours 28 minutes.

The journey began at 5:47 p.m. on Thursday (17/3/2022) and arrived at the runway at 04:15 a.m. on Friday (18/3/2022).

After the practice flight, NASA will review the data from the test before setting a target date for the upcoming launch.

The rocket and aircraft are expected to return to the High Bay 3 Vehicle Assembly Building a few days after testing.

The tests aim to remove sensors used during training, charge system batteries, store late-loaded cargo, and final checks.
