Cooking Oil Prices Soar It’s Time to Improve Heart Health, Stroke and Hypercholesterolemia

BANJARNEGARA – The soaring price of cooking oil since November has reached Rp 9,000 per liter for the doctor at the Islamic Hospital (RSI) Banjarnegara dr Masrurotut Daroen is a turning point to improve heart health, stroke and hypercholesterolemia.

“Cooking oil is expensive, people don’t really need to worry. It’s time to change your lifestyle, reduce consumption of fried foods. Because excessive fried foods can actually trigger various diseases, including heart disease, stroke, and hypercholesterolemia,” said the doctor who is familiarly called Doctor Rury, Sunday (12/19/2021).

Cardiovascular disease and stroke, one of which comes from the large pile of saturated fats and trans fats which are known to increase cholesterol in the blood. “Well, this increase in cholesterol is the root of cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease and stroke,” said the alumnus of the Unsoed Purwokerto Faculty of Medicine.

Rury said that if you eat too much fried food, there are still a number of disease threats, including type 2 diabetes and the risk of getting cancer. “Fried deep-fried foods are higher in calories and simple carbohydrates and unhealthy fats. This triggers obesity and type 2 diabetes, can happen to anyone, adults, children and pregnant women. The danger of eating fried foods can also cause cancer, this danger arises due to the acrylamide substance formed during the frying process,” said Rury.

Cooking does not have to be by frying, it can be replaced by roasting, even in certain foods or types of food if baked the dish is much tastier. Especially now that there are many technologies such as frying without oil (airfryer), cooking meat with this tool will produce natural oil from the meat.

“Actually, fried food is not completely prohibited, it’s just that you need to pay attention to how to fry and limit the amount of consumption. Balance it with other nutritious and high-fiber foods and drink lots of water,” said Dr. Rury. (nugroho)
