Banyumas, Gatra.com – In recent weeks, cooking oil prices have continued to soar. Since last November 2021, the increase in cooking oil has reached Rp. 9,000 per liter.
Inevitably, this condition makes some housewives worried. Moreover, the business actors whose production is cooking oil.
However, according to the doctor at the Islamic Hospital (RSI) Banjarnegara, dr. Masrurotut Daroen, actually if responded positively, this increase in oil prices could also be a turning point to improve heart health, and avoid stroke and hypercholesterolemia.
“Cooking oil is expensive, people don’t really need to worry. It’s time to change your lifestyle, reduce consumption of fried foods. Because excessive fried foods can actually trigger various diseases, including heart disease, stroke, and hypercholesterolemia,” he said, in Banjarnegara, Sunday (19/12).
One of the reasons for this cardiovascular disease and stroke comes from the large pile of saturated fats and trans fats which are known to increase blood cholesterol.
“Well, this increase in cholesterol is the root of cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease and stroke,” said the alumnus of the Unsoed Purwokerto Faculty of Medicine.
The doctor, who is familiarly called Doctor Rury, said that there are still some threats of disease if you eat too much fried food. Among these are type 2 diabetes, and the risk of developing cancer.
“Fried deep-fried foods are higher in calories and simple carbohydrates and unhealthy fats. This triggers obesity and type 2 diabetes, can happen to anyone, adults, children and pregnant women. The danger of eating fried foods can also cause cancer, this danger arises due to the acrylamide substance formed during the frying process,” said Rury.
According to him, cooking does not have to be by frying. However, it can be replaced by baking. And it is precisely for certain foods or types of food if baked the dishes are much tastier.
Especially now that there are many technologies such as frying without oil (airfryer), cooking meat with this tool will produce natural oil from the meat.
“Actually, fried food is not completely prohibited, it’s just that you need to pay attention to how to fry and limit the amount of consumption. Balance it with other nutritious and high-fiber foods and drink lots of water,” said dr. Rury.
