Jakarta

It’s hard to find supplies cooking oil in retail stores makes speculation of hoarding practices in retail stores emerge. One of them was when the practice of hoarding 1.1 million kilograms of cooking oil was discovered in a building in the Deli Serdang area, North Sumatra.

Chairman of the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo) Roy Nicholas Mandey emphasized that it is impossible for business actors to hoard like the incident revealed at the distributor building in North Sumatra.

“We also want to ensure retail business actors that it is impossible for us to hoard as revealed. What has been revealed is the distributor, so if we are retailers, this is very unlikely as expected, discussed by the media. Officials from last week Then, whether it’s from the DPRD, from the Ombudsman, that we have very limited warehouses to distribute the goods,” explained Roy.

Roy also added that the retailer’s warehouse was filled with various kinds of goods that were traded in the store. Thus, it cannot increase capacity, let alone for hoarding.

“The size of the warehouse has been adjusted to the number of items sold in the shop. So how can we stockpile?” said Roy.

Furthermore, Roy also said that retail stores do not stockpile at all because they can increase stock costs or warehouse costs.

“And that will result in us increasing costs, so we don’t want to add costs, right. The stock costs will arise when there are items that are not distributed quickly,” he explained.

According to him, retail stores are not likely to stockpile because of the limited size of the storage building and will incur additional costs due to the goods not being distributed quickly.
