A trend on TikTok claims that people compare the moon on the day they were born to see if they really are “soul mates”.

The trend is for people to create a funny video that compares the phases of the moon on the day two people were born

The trend suggests that if these two phases blend well together – coming together to create an image of the full moon – then people are soul mates.

And making your own using a few online tools is neat and easy.

Of course, there is no evidence that the phase of the moon actually determines your compatibility. So if you don’t like the result, don’t worry.

The way the template works means that Moon looks good in most image formats – so even if there’s a gap, it tends to be aesthetically pleasing.

The first thing to do to create a video is to go to a site that tracks the phases of the moon, like this one. It allows you to use the calendar to select any date in history and get a picture of what the moon will look like that night.

Take a screenshot of the moon phase on your birthday or save the image, then do the same for anyone you want to do the trend with. You will need to save it for later.

Now it’s time to make the video. Although it’s a bit more complicated, there are tools that make it relatively easy – the most popular being Capcut.

Download the app on iOS and Android and use it to find a form with directions. You will then be able to create your own, adding previously saved screenshots as well as including any text you like, such as your name, your partner’s name, and even your birthday.

You can then preview the video to see how beautifully the two moons look together. Capcut lets you upload videos directly, so you can put them up and post them directly to TikTok, though you can, of course, save them as a private video.
