Dismissed police officer Derek Chauvin, who killed 46-year-old George Floyd in Minneapolis on May 25 last year, will be sentenced at 1:30 p.m., local time, June 16, the court said.
In front of filming witnesses, 45-year-old Chauvin pressed his knee against the handcuffed and unarmed black Floyd’s neck for almost nine and a half minutes.
Chauvin was convicted on all three counts earlier this week after a several-week trial.
He now risks up to 40 years in prison.
