Convicted in Palma for breaking a protection order through Instagram

A young man was sentenced this Thursday in Palma to a € 1,440 fine for breaking a protection order against a girl through Instagram. The defendant sent him a follow-up request on the social network even though he had a protection order in force.

The events tried this Thursday took place on January 25, 2019. The injured party had a protection order on the young man since December 26, 2018. The court of Violence against Women number 1 of Palma prohibited the accused from communicating with the girl by any means, direct or indirect, including social networks.

The defendant, despite having received the notice of the ban, sent a follow-up request through Instagram to the complainant, who has never had a romantic relationship with him.

The young man pleaded guilty to a crime of breaking a precautionary measure in a trial held yesterday in a room of the Criminal Court number 7 of Palma.
