In May Deadline wrote that Pompeo had extended her contract for one year after long negotiations with the makers. Along with Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr, she has been around from the start of the series. Wilson and Pickens Jr.’s contract was extended for several more years in May. The American website also writes that a decision may be made next month whether there will be a nineteenth season or not. If there is no sequel, Shonda Rhimes and Krista Vernoff, the two main producers of the series, still have enough time to come up with a suitable ending.

Whether there will actually be a nineteenth season is still doubtful. Ellen Pompeo (52) has regularly shown in the past period that it has gradually been enough for her. “I’m trying to convince everyone it’s time to stop.” Pompeo himself told this in an interview with Insider earlier this week. According to the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actress, there are not many “creative possibilities” left for the series. Only her colleagues apparently think otherwise. Ellen Pompeo claims their focus is on the commercial success of the series.
