Drive-through is also possible at convenience stores.

BGF Retail’s CU announced on the 10th that it will first introduce’CU Drive Through Service’ in stores in Seoul and the metropolitan area, where you can receive products ordered in advance through a mobile app.

In September, CU has partnered with mobility commerce platform’OWIN’ to prepare a drive-through service that enables one-stop solution from ordering to receiving products in the car for the first time in the industry.

CU Drive-Thru Service is a new form of convenience store shopping in which a worker designates a specific store through the OWIN app, selects the desired product, orders, and pays, and then when a worker visits the store by car, the purchased product is delivered with a stopped vehicle.

After payment, directions are automatically provided from the app to the store, and at the same time, the estimated arrival time of the customer reflecting the real-time traffic conditions is transmitted to the store POS, so that the worker prepares the ordered product according to the corresponding time.

When the store arrives, the store worker can be notified of the arrival by using the’Call clerk’ function.

CU Drive Through service is available from 7 am (9 am on weekends) to 2 pm on weekdays, and the minimum order amount is KRW 5,000. There is no separate usage fee.

Through this, customers can easily and quickly purchase items at convenience stores without the hassle of getting on and off including parking, minimizing face-to-face contact and significantly reducing purchase time compared to the method of purchasing directly at the store.

Stores to which this service is applied were selected mainly in places where parking and stopping spaces are secured so that workers can safely deliver goods without disturbing road traffic in the city. CU plans to expand its operations to about 3,000 stores nationwide by the first half of next year, starting with the introduction of services at 500 stores in Seoul and the metropolitan area this month.

As such, CU is securing the largest number of mobile shopping platforms in the industry through strategic alliances with e-commerce companies so that customers can use convenience stores through more diverse channels in accordance with the era of With Corona.
