“Zemmour’s gall against unaccompanied young minors is unacceptable and the Meurthe-et-Moselle department will file a complaint against this columnist and call on Cnews to finally take its responsibilities”. These words were shared this Saturday morning on social networks by Valérie Beausert-Leick, president of the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle. A few days ago, Eric Zemmour had assimilated on the Cnews channel unaccompanied minors to “thieves, murderers and rapists”. An investigation was opened in the wake of the Paris prosecutor’s office for “incitement to racial hatred” and “racist public insults”.

An “unacceptable” and “dangerous” stigma
Joined this morning by phone, Valérie Beausert-Leick justifies her approach. “I can no longer stand this trivialization of racist speech in certain media. They know that by inviting people like Zemmour there will be slippages, and they continue. Stigmatizing unaccompanied minors in this way is unacceptable but also dangerous. These racist abuses have been too numerous for years, we must put an end to them ”.

Last year, the Meurthe-et-Moselle department monitored 443 young unaccompanied foreign minors. “They are entrusted to us within the framework of Social Assistance for Children, like any other child. These young people have the right to be respected and they have the right to education ”. New minors from the Greek island of Lesbos will soon be taken care of in Meurthe-et-Moselle.

Eleven departments file a complaint
Eleven departments announce that they are going or have filed a complaint against Eric Zemmour. “We wish to challenge Dominique Bussereau, the president of the assembly of departments of France, so that there is a public expression to condemn any stigmatization of unaccompanied minors”, continues Valérie Beausert-Leick. The president of Meurthe-et-Moselle also intends to appeal to the Secretary of State in charge of children and families, Adrien Taquet, who will be in Nancy on Monday.
