Wrexham have been branded “greedy” and “out of touch” after charging more than £150 ($183) for a jumper with the club crest.
Wrexham launches winter clothing rangeClothing prices criticizedSparks debate among fans
WHAT HAPPENED? The Welsh team posted photos of some of their players wearing new winter gear as part of their Macron Athleisure line. Some of the clothes cost up to £180 ($220), while others are around £80 ($98). Now, Rich Fay, senior football journalist at the Manchester Evening News and co-host of RobRyanRed’s Wrexham AFC podcast, considers this an “attempt to get money” and wonders if this could start a worrying trend of alienating fans because of prices. Some agree with his opinion, but others say this is creating division among fans who support club owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

A greedy, out-of-touch, money grab that undermines the supposed community values being plugged.
Yes, you don’t *have* to buy, that’s not the point. How long until other aspects of the club become so unaffordable? 🤦🏻♂️ #WxmAFC https://t.co/z4dSpGz8SR

THE BIG PICTURE: Wrexham is on the rise. After ending their 15-year stay in the National League with promotion last season, they are now seeking automatic promotion from League Two this season. Owners Reynolds and McElhenney aim to take the Red Dragons to the Premier League one day.
WHATS NEXT? Wrexham return to League Two action on Saturday at home against Gillingham.
