Controversy surrounds Lebanese singer Joseph Attieh’s use of Syrian flag at concert

The Lebanese were divided over the Lebanese singer Joseph Attieh, against the backdrop of his carrying the regular Syrian flag at a concert he gave in Damascus two days ago. His opponents accused him of turning against the political literature of his hometown, which provided 30 dead in the battles against the Syrian presence in Lebanon.

Attia was performing a concert as part of the activities of the Damascus Citadel Nights in Syria, in the presence of a crowd, before he was given the Syrian flag that he placed on his shoulders. After fixing the flag, he said: “You gave me the flag because I am rich in saying, ‘You were created for joy. Do you know who this is for? This is for Syria.'”

While many defended Attia because he sings in Damascus, it is only natural that he wears the Syrian flag on his shoulders, others said that what he did was immoral. They start from two reasons, the first of which is that the Syrian regime is accused of committing crimes against humanity, “so it had to reject the party from its foundations, because it would not need any amount of money from the regime.” As for the others, they began their criticism from a Lebanese political background, in light of the disagreement between a large part of Lebanese Christians with the Syrian regime, noting that it comes from a village in Batroun, whose population is predominantly affiliated with the “Lebanese Forces” party, as tweeters said.

Mughreed saw that the town of Kor, from which his mother came, had killed 30 of the “Lebanese Brigades” and “Lebanese Forces” in the battles against the Syrian presence in Lebanon, and “the Syrian regime displaced the population,” and therefore, they found his presence in Damascus unjustified.
