Controversy surrounds Kerala Bank President’s statement about Karuvannur Bank assistance

Thrissur: BJP leader Sandeep Warrier reacted to Kerala Bank president and party state committee member Gopi Kottamurickal’s remark that he would provide assistance to Karuvannur Bank within 24 hours if CPM or the government demanded it. Gopi Kotamurikal said that if the government makes such a demand and the Reserve Bank opposes it, a collective stand will be taken.

Sandeep Warrier wrote on Facebook that Gopi Kotamurik who made such a statement will have to eat wheat in Tihar Jail. Sandeep Warrier said that the President of Kerala State Service Cooperative Bank Limited (AlKherala Bank) who has a legal obligation to work according to the Reserve Bank rules, says that the Reserve Bank will implement whatever the party says no matter the objection.

In the words of Sandeep Warrier…

The President of Kerala State Service Cooperative Bank Limited (AlKherala Bank) who has a legal obligation to work according to the Reserve Bank regulations says that the Reserve Bank will implement whatever the party says no matter the objection.

Ain Gopi will be sour.
You will have to eat wheat in Tihar
Gopi Kotamurikal will not come as far as Chanda Kochran

At the same time, amid rumors that Kerala Bank will help Karuvannur Bank to solve the financial crisis, Gopi came out with a strong response. Gopi Kotamurikal said that there is currently no need to help Karuvannur Bank. Gopi Kotamurikal also said that neither NABARD nor Reserve Bank asked Kerala Bank not to help the bank.

At the same time, with the Karuvannur Co-operative Bank fraud case turning into a shadow of doubt, including the top leaders of the party, the government and the CPM are trying to save face by returning the investors’ money in any way possible. The stand is that an immediate solution should be found to avoid a setback in the Lok Sabha elections.

The government is trying to cool the investors by making a package through the Cooperative Reconstruction Fund. Even if the deposit is returned, the ED loophole will not change. ED is keeping an eye on top leaders of CPM. Fraud and black money transactions are in front of them.

Following the arrest of CPM local leader PR Aravindakshan, the CPM suspects that there is a move to implicate state committee members MK Kannan and AC Moithin. There are strong murmurs in the CPM that the opening of Asavaram to the ED was a blunder in the handling of the Karuvannur issue.
