Thiruvananthapuram: Most of the applicants for the Chief Minister’s Post Doctoral Fellowship, which is implemented by the Higher Education Department to build New Kerala, are undeserving.
Many have got fellowships not for the subjects related to New Kerala. 50,000 per month in the first year and Rs.1 lakh from the second year during the fellowship period of two years. The allegation is that there is a vested interest in granting the fellowship.
Age relaxation has been given to include candidates in the list. Still, those who have passed the age limit were included in the list, and those who were eligible were left behind. Only those who have completed Ph.D. The first age limit to apply was up to 40 years. But later this was increased to 45 years and the likes were included in the list. But many who were granted fellowship were past 45. Life Science, Chemical Science, Material Science, Political Science, Historical Studies, Economics Studies, Agricultural and Ecological Science, Climate Change and Geological Studies, Medical Science, Commerce and Management Studies The fellowship is sanctioned in the subjects of Digital Technology and Engineering. But the allegation is that the list includes those who are not related to the subject and the deserving ones are left out.
