Thiruvananthapuram: The Chief Minister has ordered an inquiry against the Chairman of the Film Academy, Ranjith, in connection with the State Film Award determination controversy. The Chief Minister directed the Culture Department to investigate the complaint that Ranjith had interfered in the decision of the award and submit a report. Director Vinayan had complained directly to the Chief Minister. Action is taken on this complaint. Earlier, Vinayan had come forward with the allegation that Ranjith had interfered in not giving an award to his film ‘Pathanatham Sandhalam’.

Vinayan had released the voice messages of Nemam Pushparaj and Jency Gregory, the members of the jury against Ranjith, in the past few days. These conversations have also been given as evidence along with the complaint. Minister Saji Cherian came to the scene last day in support of Ranjith, Chairman of the Film Academy. After this, Vinayan directly complained to the Chief Minister.

AIIF has also lodged a complaint with the Chief Minister and Culture Minister regarding the incident. The complaint was filed by the state secretary of AIIF. It is demanded that complaints should be investigated by people outside the film academy. The audio recordings of the jurors are serious. The interference of the Academy Chairman has dimmed the brightness of the award.
