Controversy Surrounding Onam Bumper Lottery: Investigation Committee Formed

Thiruvananthapuram: A special committee of the lottery department will look into the complaint filed by a native of Tamil Nadu that the first prize of the Onam bumper lottery was won by a ticket sold in the black market in Tamil Nadu and the prize should not be awarded. There are 7 people in the committee including Joint Director and Finance Officer. If the lottery prize is received by those from other states, the prize is handed over after verification by this committee.

According to the complaint of the native of Tamil Nadu, the ticket included in the ticket was sold in some areas of Tamil Nadu on commission basis from the lottery agency of Kerala. The complaint also alleges that the person who made the sale in the black market received the prize. Kerala lottery cannot legally be sold in other states. The committee will investigate the agency from which the prize winner took the lottery. Documents produced will also be verified. Reasons for the prize winner to come to Kerala will also be checked.

If the prize winner is outside Kerala Documents to be submitted on presentation of prize ticket above Rs.1 lakh through bank: Prize winner’s name, address, pin code and signature (as inserted in Aadhaar card) should be written on the back of the prize ticket. The photocopy of the ticket should be signed by the notary officer, name of the notary officer, designation, notary stamp and notary seal should be submitted. The application form available from the government website should be filled and two photographs of the awardee should be affixed, the photograph should be signed by the notary officer, the notary officer’s name, designation, notary stamp and notary seal should be recorded. The prize money receipt should be filled and the prize winner’s signature should be affixed on the revenue stamp and the prize winner’s full address and phone number should be signed by the notary officer and the notary officer’s name, title, notary stamp and notary seal should be recorded. Copy of Aadhaar, Pancard, Bank Pass book should also be submitted in the same manner. The prize winner should submit a letter showing the reason for coming to Kerala and the circumstances for buying the ticket.
