Atletico Madrid beat Sevilla 1-0 on Saturday after a goal from Macos Llorente opened the second half.
After the match, the hero of the match posted a picture of himself on X celebrating the goal. In the background, Sevilla’s Sergio Ramos was also seen sitting down on the grass with a worried expression.
For the picture he wrote “have a nice weekend everyone”.
The post was met with criticism on X where people were upset about the choice of image which they believe makes fun of Ramos.
Now Llorente explains himself on X.
“It’s best to stick to the facts. A photo of the goal, the only one I had and a ‘Merry Christmas greeting’ on Christmas Eve. Honestly, there’s not much more to say. I’ve never made fun of a colleague. I’m happy for the win and to relax for a couple of days, it’s unfortunate that I have to make this clear but that’s the way the world is. Again, have a nice weekend to all of you,” he writes on X.
Marcos Llorente has scored three goals in 18 league games for Atletico Madrid this season. Atletico are third in La Liga.
