Manchester –
There is a possibility Manchester United mistakenly disadvantaged when held to a draw Galatasaray. Galatasaray’s first goal was allegedly invalid.
Manchester United appeared careless when they visited Galatasaray headquarters, Thursday (30/11/2023) early morning WIB, on Matchday 5 Liga Champions. The ‘Red Devils’ twice took a two-goal lead, but in the end had to settle for a 3-3 draw.
Andre Onana’s work under the crossbar became a topic of conversation after the match. Because he made two fatal mistakes which resulted in the hosts’ first two goals, he was also considered worthy of being able to stop their third goal.
But the drama doesn’t stop there. MU is suspected of being disadvantaged by unfair decisions in the process of creating Galatasaray’s first goal.
The goal was claimed to be invalid. Galatasaray is suspected of violating the International Football Association Board (IFAB) rules regarding free kick situations. The rules read:
“When the defending team forms a posse wall with three or more players, all players on the attacking team must be at least 1 meter away from the wall until the ball is played.”
If three or more defending players form a wall… all attacking players must remain at least one metre from the wall until the ball is in play.

Well, in the circulating image, it can be seen that Galatasaray striker Mauro Icardi is less than one meter from the wall of MU players. Ironically, both the referee and VAR missed this moment.
A draw at Galatasaray’s headquarters means Manchester United’s chances of qualifying are slim. They are currently at the bottom of Group A with four points and will face Bayern Munich in the final group match.
