According to “bilesuserviss.lv” information, the “Kyiv Grand Ballet” troupe will perform “Swan Lake” on February 6 at 7 p.m. in the Daile Theater, and on February 7 at 6 p.m. in the Daugavpils Palace of Culture.
Concerns are expressed on Twitter that the troupe “Kyiv Grand Ballet” has no connection with the National Opera of Ukraine or the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, and the choice of the troupe to perform the ballet of Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky also raises questions.
Žagar emphasizes that the Daile Theater is neither the organizer nor the initiator of this event. “ART Partner CZ SRO”, an event production company registered in the Czech Republic, approached the theater with a request to rent premises for the event.
The head of the Fine Arts Theater emphasizes that in the case of renting premises, the production company that organizes the event and sells tickets is always responsible for the content of the event.
“Currently, we have informed and asked the producer of the event “Kyiv Grand Ballet” ART Partner CZ SRO” to give his comment on the accusations made in the public space,” said Žagar.
He emphasizes that, when renting out the premises, the Daile Theater makes sure, within its limits, whether the lessee is not on the list of sanctions of the European Union, introduced in connection with Russia’s extended war against Ukraine.
