Former Saenuri Party (predecessor of the People Power Party) lawmaker Jeon Yeo-ok claimed that a certain political group is pushing for Kim Shin-young, who left the KBS ‘National Singing Contest’ MC.

On the 6th, Rep. Jeon posted a message opposing Kim Shin-young’s departure through his social media (SNS), saying, “Why are you cutting it after a year and a half? Song Hae has been here for 40 years,” and “Even if the viewership ratings have been cut in half, we should wait longer.” It was introduced that this was being posted on the KBS viewer bulletin board and several online communities. She then pointed out, “There is even a post that says, ‘Kim Shin-young was fired for showing off Moon Jae-in’s watch,’ which is really absurd.”

Rep. Jeon said, “Kim Shin-young has never revealed her political inclinations. I found out about ‘Moon Jae-in Watch’ when I saw it posted on a left-wing community this time,” and expressed discomfort that leftists were pushing Kim Shin-young toward the left.

Representative Jeon emphasized, “The entertainment industry and the political world are similar in that they both live off of people’s popularity, but the entertainment industry is colder than the political world, where people go on stage when they are popular and come down when they are not.” At the same time, he said, “In the broadcasting industry, there are cases where notice of withdrawal is given the day before, but if it is notified a week before, it is normal,” and said that sudden notice of withdrawal is common in the broadcasting industry.

He also said, “The leftists are criticizing Nam Hee-seok as a ‘hard-core right-winger’ and ‘affiliated with the People Power Party.’” He added, “I know from broadcasting with Nam Hee-seok, and he is an obnoxiously ‘middle-of-the-road’ person who doesn’t even make ‘political comments.’ “He added that the change of MC for the National Singing Contest should not be linked to politics.
