Controversy surrounding investment plans in Gawrony – the MP intervenes

Residents’ concerns and parliamentary intervention

MP Paulina Matysiak, responding to the concerns of the residents of Gawron, sent an official letter to the mayor of the Łęczyca commune, Jacek Rogoziński, on August 12, 2024, demanding explanations regarding potential investment plans in the town.

The response of the commune authorities

Key information from the mayor’s response:

  • On September 27, 2023, proceedings were initiated to issue a decision on environmental conditions for the project involving the creation of a non-hazardous waste collection and processing point on plot No. 82/2 in Gawrony.
  • The mayor asked for opinions from relevant institutions, including the Regional Director for Environmental Protection in Łódź and the State District Sanitary Inspector in Łęczyca.
  • On July 8, 2024, the mayor issued a decision imposing the obligation to conduct an environmental impact assessment for the planned project.
  • The proceedings were suspended until the applicant prepared an environmental impact report.
  • Spatial development plans and new investment

An important element of the case is the issue of spatial development plans. The mayor confirmed that the plan covers the village of Gawrony, and plot 82/2 is marked as an area of agricultural production centers (symbol 3RPO). Importantly, in accordance with the provisions of the plan, it is permissible to change the use of this area for services and industry.
