As it turned out, the authorities in Lebanon and Kuwait refused to let Gerwig’s work be released. As officials noted, the picture contradicts the “values of faith and morals” that are accepted in these countries.
For example, Lebanese Minister of Culture Mohammed Mourtada noted that the scenario calls into question the need for marriage.
And the union between a man and a woman is regarded there as an obstacle to a woman’s self-development.
