The large flashing X that Elon Musk put up at his social media headquarters last week must be removed by order of the municipality of San Francisco. A permit had to be applied for and complaints were received about light pollution.
The logo is one of the most important features of the rebranding from Twitter to X, a change that Musk suddenly announced last week. The meter-high symbol at the headquarters proclaimed the new name of Musk’s company in the evening with a continuous light show.
The municipality of San Francisco says that 24 complaints have been received about the X. Neighbors thought the flashing lights were too dominant and also did not fit in with the environment. There were also doubts whether the colossus was safe.

Earlier, Musk also had to halt the removal of the old company name on the building halfway through. Because his employees had not cordoned off the area, the police halted work until sufficient safety measures had been taken for passers-by.
