Controversy Surrounding Chairman Ranjith: AIYF Demands Inquiry and Vinayan Criticizes Minister Saji Cherian

AIYF says that the allegations against the chairman of the film academy, Ranjith, are serious. AIYA state secretary TT Jismon also demanded that the government should be ready to conduct an inquiry into the matter. If found guilty, he should be removed from the position. AIYF has been criticizing Ranjith’s Madambi style.

Calling it a rubbish movie is not worthy of the status of the Academy Chairman. AIYF State Secretary TT Jismon stated that he will provide moral support to director Vinayan who is proceeding with legal action. AIF has come in support of Vinayan who accused Ranjith of interfering in the decision of the award. Vinayan had alleged that jury member Nemam Pushparaj had informed that the Academy Chairman Ranjith had intervened to prevent the award for the film ‘Patthumbatham Sandhalam’.

Today, Vinayan came up with a note criticizing Saji Cherian who supported Ranjith. Vinayan’s note began by saying that he had seen in the news that honorable Minister Shri Saji Cherian had given a clean chit to Chairman Shri Ranjith of the Kerala State Film Awards Jury, Mr. Nemam Pushparaj, and dismissed the allegations made by me. The chairman has not made any intervention. We asked Mr. Ranjith and not you? Mr. Nemam Pushparaj, the member of the jury appointed by you, has said that he will tell the rest when Ranjith answers. Should this judgment have been passed before that? The minister will not be present when the projection of the award decision is made and the discussion is made. Then how come you said so unequivocally that the chairman did not intervene. Atleast you should have asked your PSS sir.

Jury member Nemam Pushparaj had told your PS Manu C Pulikan that Chairman Ranjith was interfering unnecessarily in the initial days. Ask the secretary. Sri Manu also knew that he tried to control it. Still, it’s hard to say that you didn’t know. The issue here is not whether the award was given to those who deserved it or not. Was the Academy Chairman, the representative of the government, involved in the decision of the award? That is the serious matter. Ranjith, who spoke to the jury members, or the jury members who overheard it, should be held accountable. Apart from Nemam Pushparaj, another member of the jury, Ms. Ginsi Gregory, has also clarified today about Mr. Ranjith’s involvement. You should have researched all that to give this clean chit.. Or will you believe whatever the world famous directors say? You don’t need to look at any law or law for that. In any case, Academy Chairman Ranjith Pariyatte replied to Nemam Pushparaj’s allegation. If Ranjith has the courage to say that he has not done anything like this, then I will have to come with the answer only after Shri Pushparaj arrives. Vinayan also pointed out that my opinion is that no one should bother to give anticipatory bail before that.
