Controversy Surrounding CGI Special Effects in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer”

Christopher Nolan’s latest masterpiece “Oppenheimer” was officially released last week. Many viewers wanted to see how the director did not use CGI special effects to present the effect of the atomic bomb test, but today there is news that due to special reasons, some countries have added CGI special effects.

According to an IGN India report, Jean Tatlock, played by Florence Pugh, has a nude lens, which led to the official use of CGI special effects to put her in a black dress; in addition, when the character performed a smoking scene, a warning of “Smoking Kills” was added. These abrupt adjustments made many fans feel dissatisfied and confused. It is understood that in addition to India, some Middle Eastern countries also adopt the same method, such as conservative countries such as Pakistan and Indonesia.

According to sources, the above measures are all to make the film conform to the release classification system of many conservative countries. For example, India is released with a U/A rating, which means that the general public can watch the film, but audiences under the age of 12 need to be accompanied by their parents, so special CGI special effects are used for post-production.

“Oppenheimer” had a global box office of $174 million in its first week, with a rating of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, a rating of 95% from fans, an A rating from CinemaScore, and constant praise.
